Curriculum
A curriculum guides a school's activities and teaching. It also depicts the learning objectives, the key contents of the subjects and the principals of assessment.
The City of Oulu's basic education curriculum is based on national educational criteria. They are based on the subjects common to all pupils in grades 1–9, defined in the Basic Education Act.

The national lesson distribution regulation determines in which grades and for how many lessons per week the subjects are studied. In Oulu, by the decision of the Education and Culture Board, one weekly lesson for primary school 2nd grade and one for lower secondary school 7th grade have been added.
