Cooperation of the Six Largest Cities

The Six Cities – Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu – are the six largest cities in Finland. Approximately two million Finnish inhabitants live in these cities, that is over a third of the country’s population.

The Six Cities are significant builders of economic growth and birthplaces of innovations and investments. The cities train new professionals and take care of building socially fair communities.

The Six Cities are vital for the entire Finland’s wellbeing. The largest cities often are the true executors of societal policy. For their part, they solve European challenges and reinforce the EU’s competitiveness. Growth is born in cities.

Cooperation between the six largest cities (C6 Cooperation)

The Six Cities (Espoo, Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere, Turku and Vantaa) are the six largest cities in Finland. Over a third of the country’s population live in these cities. Over 40 % of Finnish jobs are located in these cities and 55 % of Finland’s gross domestic product is produced in these cities.

Cooperation between the 21 largest cities (C21 Cooperation)

C21 Cooperation is a fixed network of Finland’s 21 largest cities. C21 strengthens discussions of urban policy and supervises interests between the cities. Different urban policy forums, urban research and interest supervision are needed to develop the agenda of urban policy and to define the shared goals of large cities.
