Pekuri Library will be closed 30.6.2025
The last opening day of the Pekuri Library is Monday, 30.6.2025. The temporary library premises in the Pekuri Shopping Centre will be closed when the library starts moving back to the renovated library building. The renovated Central Library Saari will open in November 2025.
The move and emptying of the Main Library began in January 2022 and it was closed in August of the same year. Pekuri Library opened in September 2022. The actual renovation of the Main Library began in February 2023, when the entire library was finally empty. Several months have been reserved for the return move, as filling the large space with furniture, books and other collections, installing the equipment, preparing the services and other preparatory arrangements take time and require a large number of staff.
Library services in summer and autumn
Loans borrowed from the Pekuri Library will not have due dates on 1.–21.7.2025. Reservations with the Pekuri Library as the pick-up library will be transferred to a temporary reservation pick-up point. The pick-up point will be the Mobile Library Onneli, which will be parked near the Central Library Saari on Vänmanninsaari, starting 21.7.2025. Mobile Library Onneli will be open as a reservation pick-up point Monday–Thursday 14.00–19.00 and Friday 10.00–15.00.

Returns can be left at other Oulu City Library service points and other OUTI Libraries. The network of local libraries and the mobile library stops covers the whole of Oulu from Oulunsalo to Yli-Ii and Martinniemi to Ylikiiminki. In addition to Oulu, the OUTI Libraries are the libraries of Hailuoto, Ii, Kempele, Kuusamo, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Pudasjärvi, Pyhäjoki, Raahe, Siikajoki, Taivalkoski, Tyrnävä, Utajärvi and Vaala. The libraries closest to the city centre are the Karjasilta, Kaukovainio and Koskela Libraries. The nearby Tuira Library is also closed due to a move from 30.4.2025 until August 2025, and the Kastelli Library is closed 23.6.–5.8.2025.
