Equipment
Computers and printing
All libraries provide an access to computers. Some computers are intended only for short-term use and cannot be reserved. Computers intended for long-term use can be reserved from Varaamo. Printing is available in all libraries except for the Asema and Hiukkavaara Libraries.
Printing is available in A4 and A3, in black and white or in colour. The available paper is plain 80 g/m² white copy paper. You cannot use your own papers, labels or sheets for printing.
Printouts and copies are paid at the customer service. If the library does not have a cash register, printout and copy fees are added to your library card information, and you must have your library card with you. Printing and copying is not possible during self-service hours.
Copying and scanning
There is an all-in-one printer for copying and scanning in Haukipudas, Jääli, Kaakkuri, Kaijonharju, Karjasilta, Kastelli, Kaukovainio, Kiiminki, Koskela, Maikkula, Myllyoja, Oulunsalo, Pateniemi, Pekuri, Rajakylä, Ritaharju, Tuira, Yli-Ii and Ylikiiminki Libraries. You can send scanned files to an email or a connected USB drive with the device. You can also print from a USB drive in all the aforementioned libraries.
Important documents should not be copied via the main feed, but as a flat copy. For example, certificates may be thicker paper or have a raised edge that causes the paper to crease. Copying is done at your own risk.
Printouts and copies are paid at the customer service. If the library does not have a cash register, printout and copy fees are added to your library card information, and you must have your library card with you. Printing and copying is not possible during self-service hours.
In the Pekuri Library, copies can also be paid in cash (coins) or with a copy balance you can load onto your Waltti card. The balance can be loaded onto the card only in batches of 10 and 50 in the Pekuri Library customer service. You can use your existing Waltti card or buy a new card from Pekuri Library. A card purchased from the library can be connected later to the Oulu Region public transport system and to other services at the Oulu10 service points. Only copy balance can be loaded onto the card in Pekuri Library. Vice versa, copy balance cannot be loaded onto the card in other libraries or Oulu10 service points.
Laminating
You can laminate A4-size papers at the Kiiming Library during the library's customer service hours without an appointment. Cold and hot lamination is possible. 2 x 125 micron laminating pouches for the laminator can be purchased at the library. A maximum of 5 laminating pouches will be sold per laminating session per user. You cannot use your own laminating pouches.
Paper shredder
The paper shredder is available for use in the Pekuri Library. Using the shredder is free of charge and does not require making a reservation in advance.
Microfilm reader
You can access microfilms by emailing the Yli-Ii Library (yli-ii.kirjasto@ouka.fi). You can also reserve microfilms in the OUTI Web Library. Remember to select Pekuri Library to be the pick-up location.
The microfilm reader can be used in the Pekuri Library and you can reserve it via Varaamo or the library customer service.
Microfilms are for in-library use only and may not be checked out.
Audio and visual record digitizer
Pekuri Library has the device for digitizing cassette tapes and vinyl records onto a CD-R or CD-RW disc. Discs are sold in the library.
Maikkula Library has the device for digitizing film and VHS cassettes. Digitizing film takes longer due to the film being shot frame by frame. The digitization of a 3.5-minute film takes approximately 30 minutes. The end result is an mp4 file in HD-quality. Digitization of VHS cassettes occurs in real time, i.e. the tape has to be played through, and the video is recorded on CD-R or CD-RW. Discs are sold in the library.
You can reserve equipment via Varaamo or from the library customer service.
