Week Against Racism on 18.-24.3. focuses especially on racism experienced by young people
The national Week Against Racism will be take place this year on 18.-24.3. Oulu loves me event in Valkea starts the Week Against Racism in Oulu already on the previous Saturday on 16.3.
Many kinds of events are organized in Oulu during the Week Against Racism. The events call attention to respect for other people and intervening in racism. In addition, companies and organizations can participate in the "Everyone is welcome" challenge campaign.
At the Oulu loves me event, held on 16.3. on the stage of the Valkea shopping centre, there will be programme from 13.00 to 16.00. The event and the Week is declared open by Jarmo Laitinen from the city of Oulu. The programme includes traditional dance and music performances from Ukraine, Iran, Vietnam, Japan and Azerbaijan.
The programme will continue in Nuorten Nurkka in Valkea at 14.00-16.00, where you have the opportunity to learn Azerbaijani dances and participate in activities aimed at people of various ages. Coffee and tea are served at 14.00-16.00.
In Oulu, the Week Against Racism is organized in collaboration with a large partner network. The theme of the national Advisory Board for Ethnic Relations Etno is racism experienced by young people and Finnish Red Cross reminds everyone to be on the side of humanity and to intervene in racism.
