The city of Oulu organizes plenty of activities for children and young people during the fall break. The events are primarily free of charge.
X-ON for the last time in its current form
X-ON is a free of charge sport and leisure event for children and young people in the Oulu Hall organized by the city of Oulu’s Youth Services and Sport Services. This year, X-ON celebrates its 20th anniversary. The event is organized for the last time in its current form.
Tuesday October 22 is the evening of the youth
Event is open for all young people over 12 years old from 17.00–21.00

Five Youth Centres open
Five Youth Centres: Bysis, Jääli, Kaakkuri and Rajakylä Youth Centres and the Nurkka Youth Centre in Shopping Centre Valkea are open during the fall break with varying opening times. The opening times can be seen on the Youth Centres’ social media channels and the Fiilis page in Finnish.
The Maikkula Youth Centre will hold LAN parties on October 23–25 for young people between ages 13–17. You can play alone or with friends at the LAN parties. You may also participate in tournaments, try a hunting game or show your moves in a dancing game.
Park Lunches in three locations
Park Lunches for young people under 18 years old are offered from Tuesday to Friday at the Jääli School and from Monday to Friday at the Rajakylä School and in the facilities of Höyhtyä Välke Evening Club. More detailed information on the Park Lunch webpage.
Public reservations at the football stadium as well as guided water exercise
The Heinäpää Football Stadium has open reservations for the public on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12.00–15.00 and on Wednesday from 12.00–14.30.
A water disco for primary school children is organized in the Oulu Swimming Pool in Raksila on Thursday October 24 from 17.00–20.00. You may enter the water disco with an exercise charge. The participants must be able to swim a total of 25 meters.
Swimming schools are organized in the Oulu Swimming Pool in Raksila during the fall break for primary school children. Beginner, continuation and advanced swimming schools are offered. You can also try out mermaid swimming in Vesi-Jatuli in Haukipudas. Registration for the swimming schools and mermaid swimming here.
Library events
The Hiukkavaara, Jääli, Kastelli, Kello, Martinniemi, Pateniemi, Yli-Ii and Ylikiiminki Libraries do not have customer service during the fall break, but they can be used during self-service hours. Other libraries are open normally during the fall break.

Oulu Literature Festival at Valve includes programming for children and young people on October 19–20

Reading session with pets in Rajakylä on Tueday October 22 at 17.00
Fall break can be a reading break! The Lukuloma website includes reading tips in Finnish. The library’s YouTube channel includes reading tip videos as well in Finnish. New reading tips can be found for 5–6-year-old children, primary school children, middle school children and upper secondary school students.
Art workshops at the Oulu Art Museum
The Oulu Art Museum is open on the fall break from Tuesday to Friday from 9.00–19.00 and from Saturday to Sunday from 11.00–18.00. Free entry for children under 18 years old.
Art workshops for families with children are organized in the Oulu Art Museum on Saturday October 19 from 13.00–15.00, Tuesday to Thursday October 22–24 from 10.00–13.00 and from 14.00–16.00. You will get to explore the current Tomun tieto exhibition’s themes with the artform of clay. The workshops cost 2 €, adults must pay for a museum ticket as well.

Scoop net fishing event in Kuusisaari on October 19
A traditional and open scoop net fishing event is organized on Saturday October 19 at 10.00–14.00 in Kuusisaari. You try out scoop net fishing at the event free of charge. Sausage, coffee, juice and pancakes are served at the event.
