Four new traffic light intersections in the Oulu city centre

Four intersections without traffic lights on Aleksanterinkatu and Uusikatu will be altered to include traffic lights during the summer and fall. On Aleksanterinkatu, the construction focuses on the area between Limingankatu and Sepänkatu. The new traffic lights will be added to the intersections with Nummikatu and Heinätorinkatu. On Uusikatu, the construction will be done in the area between Puistokatu and Heinätorinkatu. On Uusikatu, the traffic lights will be added to the intersections with Limingankatu and Peltokatu.  

The construction begins in early July and will spread to Aleksanterinkatu later in the summer. The construction work will be finished in September 2024. The implementation is based on the development measures set in the Oulu Traffic Safety Plan. They especially increase the safety of pedestrians and cyclists at the crossing points of busy main streets.
