The Environment Office’s Environmental Protection Unit is responsible for environmental control. We take care of environmental damage prevention and offer guidance and instruction for citizens, communities and companies about environmental regulations. We also handle the granting of permits and supervision duties of environmental protection.

We are the environmental protection authority in the region consisting of seven municipalities: Hailuoto, Kempele, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Oulu and Tyrnävä. Environmental Protection Unit is a part of the Environment Office of Oulu Public Utility.
