
Week 12 – Week Against Racism in Oulu: many events, launch of the Anti-Racism Programme and founding of the Anti-Discrimination Forum
The international Week Against Racism is held on week 12, March 17–23, 2025. This year’s theme is the duties of adults in intervening in racism experienced by children and young people.
Diverse activities are organized in Oulu during the Week Against Racism. The week is opened with the Oulu Loves Me event in the Shopping Centre Valkea on Saturday, March 15 at 13.00–16.00. The themes of respect and intervening in racism are highlighted and discussed in the events organized throughout the week.

Launching the Anti-Racism Programme and founding the Anti-Discrimination Forum on March 19
The brand-new Anti-Racism Operational Programme approved by the City Board will be launched on Wednesday, March 19, during an event held at the City Hall. Representatives of a wide range of organizations and minority groups as well as professionals in the field have been invited to attend.
The city of Oulu’s Anti-Racism Operational Programme’s goal is to acknowledge, prevent and fight racism in all its forms, support the victims of racism as well as increase interaction and trust between population groups in Oulu.
One action of the Programme is founding an Anti-Discrimination Forum in Oulu. The goal of the forum is to collect information about racist acts and discrimination in the city and to maintain an up-to-date situation picture.
