Suggest a winner for the sustainable development special recognition award by November 8
The Environment Office of the Oulu Region will grant a special recognition award to a local operator for successful promotion of sustainable development. In 2024, for the first time the award will be granted based on suggestions from citizens. Anyone can make a suggestion anonymously. A winner for the special recognition award can be suggested until Friday November 8, 2024, with this form.
The sustainable development special recognition award is a commendation for creditable and exemplary activity considering the principles of sustainable development. The award has been granted every other year since 1999. This year, the award amount is 3 000 €.
“Citizens know local operators whose work in sustainable development is considered significant. We hope that these are highlighted in the suggestions”, Environmental Director Leena Tuuri states.
The goal of the award is to promote ecological, societal, cultural and economic sustainable development. The award also increases the environmental awareness of citizens and encourages them to follow the goals of sustainable development.
You may suggest an operator that acts in the Environment Office of the Oulu Region’s area of activity, i.e. an organization, community, association or other comparable organized operator in Hailuoto, Kempele, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Oulu or Tyrnävä. The operator must promote the implementation of sustainable development goals in their activities. The 2024 award will put special focus on spreading courses of action for sustainable lifestyle.
The winner of the award will be chosen by the board of directors of the Environment Office of the Oulu Region in December. The award will be granted in January of 2025.
