The Oulu Sport Services’ 100th anniversary culminates with a dance in the Oulu Hall

The city of Oulu’s Sport Services has celebrated its 100th anniversary with sport events throughout the year. The Liikuntaa oululaisille 100 vuotta event (Fin. Sport for the citizens of Oulu for 100 years) culminates the anniversary year. The event is organized in the Oulu Hall on Monday December 9, 2024, starting at 17.30. 

At the anniversary’s main event, Ässät, a dance orchestra from Oulu, will lead the dance in the Oulu Hall’s new exercise gym starting at 18.15. The activities of the Sport Services are presented in the lobby, and the participants have an opportunity to take an InBody composition analyzer test. Celebratory cake and coffee will be served to the first 500 visitors. The event is free of charge. 

“On December 9, 1924, the Sports Committee was founded in the city. This can be considered the initiation of the city’s sport activities. Citizens of Oulu have participated in events during the year actively, for example, the hundred-minute water gymnastic classes have been extremely popular. We bid everyone welcome to the anniversary year’s main event as well”, Sport Director Niina Epäilys rejoices.
