The city of Oulu promotes equality also during the Oulu Pride Week July 19 – August 4
Oulu Pride is back this year and is held from July 29 to August 4. This year, Oulu Pride Week’s theme is “Pride belongs to everyone”. The goal of the theme is to highlight members of more minorities as well as members and themes of minorities among minorities and make their voices heard.
Oulu City Board has approved the Council’s motion of “Discrimination-free Oulu”. Principles of a safe space are created for Oulu in order for everyone to live in the city equally. Non-discriminatory language instructions will be published to the city personnel in early fall 2024. These are concrete examples of measures with which the city of Oulu implements the Equality and Non-Discrimination Plan in the years 2022–2026.
The city of Oulu’s Youth Services will also participate in many Oulu Pride Week activities: among other events, there will be a Young Adult Disco, Customizing Workshops, preparties, a spot in the Pride March, the Park Party and Evening Party.
Oulu is the European Capital of Culture in 2026. The goal is positive Cultural Climate Change: the promotion of equality and diversity and increasing participation have a significant role in reaching the goals of the Oulu2026 activities. Oulu2026 is a proud cooperation partner in Oulu Pride.
