Growing towards participation starts already in daycare center, continues at school in the student association and in local participation groups for children and young people operating in different parts of the city. Participation is included also in the activities of the Byström Guidance Center and various workshops.
At the annual City Meeting, children and young people make various decisions about acquisitions and opinion proposals. At the Youth Forum, aimed at secondary school students and older, organisations, associations, and the city's various actors and parties meet with young people.
Oulu Youth Council ONE operates alongside regional groups throughout the city. The council is elected every two years.
We involve children and young people in Oulu to generate ideas, plan, implement and evaluate. We strive to ensure that children and young people are heard, and support their opportunities for influence.
