Finnish Language Teaching
At Villa Victor, you can learn Finnish through both in-person and online classes—whichever suits you best. All our courses are completely free.
Our courses are available year-round, so you can join in whenever it fits your schedule. Whether you're just starting out or looking to perfect your skills, we offer Finnish lessons at different levels from beginner to advanced.
Villa Victor also organizes special courses in collaboration with e.g. University of Oulu and TE Services. Follow our website and social media for more information.
Finnish courses' Christmas break starts on December 13th.
Teaching starts again in January 13th 2025.

Course contents and levels
Elementary level courses
Elementary level groups include three contact groups in classroom settings and one online group in Teams. The courses share the same content.
- Aletaan alusta ("Let's start") course is a short crash course where you learn the basics of the language, which will help you succeed in other elementary groups. The group is especially intended for 0-level language learners who need more support in learning the basics of the language.
The contents of Elementary courses K and S (contact teaching) and Elementary Evening (Teams) correspond approximately the competence level 0-A1 on The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Even a 0-level language learner can start with these basic elementary courses.

Follow-up courses
Follow-up courses' contents correspond approximately the competence level A2 on The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Jatkokurssi ("Follow-up O and L and Follow-up Evening") are contact teaching groups that you can attend for example after completing an elementary course. Two groups are classroom courses, one is online (Teams).
- Suomea edistyneille ("Advanced Finnish") course is suitable for example for those who have completed their integration training or have acquired basic skills in Finnish language. The contents of the course correspond approximately the level B1 on The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Puhutaan suomea ("Let's Speak Finnish") is a conversation course where you practice the things learned in the advanced course with the help of various conversation, listening and vocabulary exercises. Starting level around B1.
YKI-treeni ja keskustelu ("YKI Training and Conversation") course's contents correspond approximately the level A2-B2 on The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It corresponds the intermediate level of the National Certificate of Language Proficiency governed by the Finnish National Agency for Education. The course prepares you for the intermediate skill level YKI test. You will practice functional everyday Finnish and learn more about the YKI test.

You can register for contact courses by visiting the Villa Victor customer service desk at Oulu10, in the address Torikatu 10.
The customer service is open Mon-Fri from 10-15. Registration for the contact groups starts on January 2nd.
